Yardley Products Corporation, a manufacturer of threaded metal insert fasteners, has been producing non-magnetic brass inserts for use in MRI machines and sensitive electronics equipment for nearly five years. In addition to being made in the USA, Yardley has reaffirmed their commitment to producing the highest quality non-magnetic metal inserts by upgrading to all new magnetoscope equipment used for testing and quality control of the products.

“Standard brass inserts are actually slightly magnetic due to small traces (about .2% – .4%) of iron in the alloy”, said Tim Bailey, president at Yardley Products. “Our magnetoscope testing equipment allows us to perform a quality check that ensures absolutely zero magnetic material is present in our non-magnetic fasteners.”

There are numerous applications that require the use of non-magnetic inserts in order to minimize potential RF interference with sensitive electronics and prevent failure. Typical applications include medical instruments like MRI machines, microwave and cell phone towers, semiconductor protection equipment and devices, aerospace vehicles, robotic assemblies, instrumentation devices, printers/plotters, and laboratory and test equipment.

The non-magnetic characteristics (zero magnetic flux density) of the material used by Yardley, produces inserts of the same high quality as those produced with magnetic materials. In addition, the full line of Yardley’s brass threaded metal inserts are available in the non-magnetic variety.

Produced on a custom quote basis, Yardley non-magnetic threaded metal insert fasteners are available in a wide range of U.S. and metric sizes and thread configurations.

In addition to non-magnetic brass inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners in aluminum, brass, diecast. plated steel, stainless steel and steel.

Yardley, PA—Yardley Products, a manufacturer of precision engineered threaded metal inserts for a wide range of fastening applications, provides custom solutions for a variety of industries. Through a partnership with MCM Composites, a certified custom molder of thermoset plastic parts, Yardley has supplied threaded metal inserts for a variety of products, including milkshake blenders, oven handle doors, and immersion cookers.

Yardley has been proud to supply the threaded inserts to MCM Composites. “Yardley provides threaded inserts for all types of applications for end-use in items from fighter jets to kitchen and convenience items like what MCM produces,” says Tim Bailey, president of Yardley Products. “If you need an insert, I‘m sure there is one in our extensive product line that will fit your needs, and if there isn’t, we’ll design one that works.”

Yardley’s threaded metal inserts are used in many molded parts for different products at MCM, but the most recent utilization was an application featuring a new, self cleaning milkshake blender. The blenders, which can be found nationwide at convenience stores, are particularly sanitary because they are extremely easy to maintain.

For the milkshake blenders, Yardley supplies the Trisert® Coarse Threaded self-tapping insert because it is perfectly suited for strong holding power in brittle or thin plastics. “The plastics used in the items manufactured by MCM are subject to frequent temperature changes because they are used in food preparation. The ability to handle these temperature changes requires an FDA-grade fiberglass reinforced plastic formulation that is extremely hard, but also is very brittle, so we needed an insert that would not crack the plastic during insertion,” says Bailey.

Yardley’s Trisert® Coarse Threaded Inserts are designed to meet the increased demand for holding power in thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics. The wider spaced external threads reduce installation torque and provide a stronger hold. Trisert® Coarse Threaded Inserts are self-tapping, meaning that installation is extremely quick and easy; the inserts tap their own threads as they are turned into drilled or cored holes. The threading on these inserts is ideal for cutting into extremely hard plastics without cracking the material.

In addition to Trisert® Coarse Threaded Inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners in aluminum, brass, diecast, plated steel, stainless steel and steel. Yardley threaded metal inserts are available for purchase online at www.yardleyproducts.com or by contacting Yardley Products at 800-457-0154.

Yardley Products, a manufacturer of precision engineered threaded metal inserts for a wide range of fastening applications, provides custom solutions for a variety of industries. One of Yardley’s longest relationships is with an industrial company in southeast PA that creates instrument panels for some of the most sophisticated aircraft flying today, including the S-3 Viking and the C-130 Hercules.

Yardley provides threaded metal inserts that are used to hold the cockpit instrument panels together, which are then mounted on the dashboard of the military aircraft. For over 20 years, Yardley has been proud to supply military aircraft with the inserts. “These inserts play an integral role in piloting these fighter jets,” says Tim Bailey, president of Yardley Products. “The inserts used in the application are the strongest available today for use with sensitive electronics.”

The inserts are used in light panels, control panels, and LCD display panels in both helicopters and fighter jets. Most importantly to Yardley, the incidence of failure for the panels has to be non-existent so the inserts have to be fail proof. “This isn’t a recreational product; it’s a military aircraft carrying our soldiers, so we had to make sure our inserts were perfect for the application,” Bailey says.

Yardley worked to create an insert that met the needs of the manufacturing facility. Bailey opted to customize an insert from their Trisert® line, which is designed to provide stronger more durable permanent threads in soft metals and plastics. Trisert® inserts will not gall, seize, corrode or strip and offer strong resistance to rotation and pull-out. Additionally, they are ideal for automated production.

Trisert® inserts are internally and externally threaded metal inserts. The inserts tap their own threads as they are turned into drilled or cored holes. The wider spaced external threads reduce installation torque and provide a stronger hold.

“Our relationship with this facility is an outstanding one,” says Bailey. “We even revisited our original design with them a few years back and improved it to even further meet their needs.” Bailey says the redesign of the self-tapping inserts eliminated a step in the insertion process, saving their customer both time and money.

In addition to Trisert® self-tapping inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners in aluminum, brass, diecast, plated steel, stainless steel and steel. Yardley threaded metal inserts are available for purchase online at www.yardleyproducts.com or by contacting Yardley Products at 800-457-0154.

Yardley® Type AA Closed End Threaded Inserts Designed for Molding in Plastics, Rubber and Ceramics

Yardley, PA—Yardley Products, a manufacturer of precision engineered threaded metal inserts for a wide range of fastening applications, provides custom solutions for multiple industries. Recently, Yardley Products has been supplying custom sized threaded metal inserts in the assembly of insulin pumps made by a multi-national pharmaceutical manufacturer.

The manufacturer approached Tim Bailey, president of Yardley Products, about creating a custom sized insert in the construction of the insulin pumps. “The insert had to be incredibly small,” says Bailey. “It’s one of the smallest inserts we’ve ever created.”

The small size of the insert was only one of the prerequisites for the item. “This isn’t a recreational product; it’s a life saving-device, so we had to make sure our inserts were perfect for the application,” Bailey says.

Yardley worked to create an insert that met the needs of the insulin pump manufacturing process. Bailey opted to customize an insert from their Yardley Type AA line, which is designed for use in a wide range of plastics. The inserts are molded-in to the plastic housing during production. Although the thread is only .06 in diameter, the close tolerance of minor thread diameter and careful burnishing of inner thread crests provide a snug fit on the locating pins in the mold.

“This was a unique inquiry because most insulin pumps are so delicate and small. The insert had to have ultimate holding power and be extremely tiny at the same time,” says Bailey. “However, when we received this request, we knew it was an application where we could create a customized solution. Yardley Products has been in this business since 1946 and has extensive experience in manufacturing inserts to specific customer requested tolerances and designs.”

Currently, three different divisions of this pharmaceutical company are buying the inserts for their insulin pumps. Yardley is shipping as far away as Hong Kong to supply the inserts for their manufacturing process.

“This is such a great application of our inserts, because they are improving the quality of life for people wearing these insulin pumps worldwide,” Bailey says.

In addition to Type AA closed end inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners in aluminum, brass, diecast, plated steel, stainless steel and steel. Yardley threaded metal inserts are available for purchase online at www.yardleyproducts.com or by contacting Yardley Products at 800-457-0154.

Recently, Yardley was approached by Greg Benson, CEO of Loll Designs, a world-wide leader in recycled outdoor furniture manufactured in the USA with a focus on sustainable manufacturing practices, with a custom inquiry for an insert.

Loll DESIGNS was searching for a solution for inserts that could be used in assembling furniture that would not split the building material upon insertion. “This was a unique inquiry, in part because Loll DESIGNS had firm guidelines for the quality and manufacturing process of their products, and also because Loll furniture is designed so that it requires no seasonal storage or maintenance,” says Yardley’s Vice President Ken Grady. This meant all components used to assemble the pieces had to be extremely durable, anti-corroding in all types of weather, and fit the sustainability requirements mandated by Loll. Additionally, Loll only uses USA-made products for assembly of their furniture line.

“When we got this request, I immediately knew we could offer Loll DESIGNS a solution,” says Grady. “We’ve been in this business for 65 years and have plenty of experience in manufacturing inserts to specific customer requested tolerances and designs.”

Yardley and Loll worked together to design a custom-sized insert from Yardley’s Fiber-Sert® line. The custom insert features strong, permanent threads for insertion in the recycled, high-density polyethylene material used by Loll DESIGNS, and it won’t split the sections of material. The inserts cut their own threads as they are driven into previously drilled holes in the plastic. The coarse, external threads are engineered for maximum resistance to backout and loosening.

“Yardley helped us to design and manufacture an insert that was specified for the recycled plastic material we use. The fact that the custom inserts are made in the USA and the great service made Yardley an easy choice,” says Greg Benson, CEO of Loll DESIGNS.

To eliminate any potential delivery issues, Yardley stocks the custom inserts to ensure they are always available to Loll. Additionally, Yardley Products is conscious of sustainable manufacturing and is RoHS Compliant, which made them extremely excited to work with Loll DESIGNS, a company at the forefront of the industry for sustainability.

Yardley, PA — Yardley Products Corporation, a manufacturer of precision engineered threaded metal insert fasteners, announced today it is offering inserts manufactured using a “non-magnetic” brass material. Ideal for applications in the electronics and medical device industries, the “non-magnetic” brass material is available in all styles of Yardley inserts that are currently offered in regular brass.

“Most users are probably not aware that standard brass inserts are actually slightly magnetic due to small traces (about .2 – .4%) of iron in the alloy”, said Tim Bailey, president at Yardley Products. “Thus numerous applications today are now requiring the use of non-magnetic inserts in order to minimize potential RF interference with sensitive electronics.”

The non-magnetic characteristics (zero magnetic flux density) of the Yardley “non-magnetic” brass insert material offers manufacturers the same high quality Yardley threaded inserts in a completely non-magnetic material for use in products that contain or are used near sensitive electronics.

Typical applications include medical instruments; MRI (magnetic resonant imaging) machines; microwave and cell phone towers; semiconductor protection equipment and devices, aircraft; and spacecraft; robotic assemblies; instrumentation devices; printers/plotters; and laboratory and test equipment. One recent application involved inserts that were molded into the beds of MRI machines.

Produced on a custom quote basis, Yardley “non-magnetic” threaded metal insert fasteners are available in a wide range of U.S. and metric sizes and thread configurations.

In addition to ”non-magnetic” brass inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners in aluminum, brass, diecast. plated steel, stainless steel and steel.

Yardley, PA – Threaded metal insert fastener manufacturer, Yardley Products Corporation, has come to find the applications which call for the company’s fasteners can sometimes tell the story of the company’s products best.

Recently, Yardley began supplying Bluefin Robotics, a leading autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) manufacturer located in Cambridge, MA with stainless steel threaded inserts for use in unmanned submarines designed for underwater surveying and research.

“The list of applications our fasteners are found in is extensive and broad,” said Tim Bailey, President at Yardley Products. “Our relationship as a supplier to Bluefin is a classic example of an application telling the story of our products more effectively than the product specifications ever could.”

Bluefin, who is a leader in underwater vehicles designed for military, commercial, and archaeological exploration and research sought a fastening solution for specific structural plastic components found in the company’s AUVs.

“The specifications called for a threaded insert for fastening plastic structural components together,” said Mike Szegedi, Manufacturing Engineer at Bluefin. “The inserts needed to provide enough strength to prevent the fastened components from pulling apart under any stress.”

Bluefin engineers selected Yardley as a potential suppler when an initial online search for a solution lead to threaded metal insert specifications on Yardley’s website.

“We were able to find a viable solution through Yardley’s website,” said Szegedi. “Yardley provided detailed specification, drawings, and made the sourcing of these threaded inserts painless.”

Ultimately, Bluefin engineers chose Yardley Trisert® stainless steel threaded metal inserts for the application. Trisert® inserts are designed to produce strong threads in plastics, soft metals and wood. They are self-tapping and provide high torque and pull-out resistance.

A metal insert was used instead of a plastic insert to provide greater strength and resistance to stripping of the threads under stress. In addition, 316 stainless steel was chosen for superior corrosion resistance to the harsh sea water environment.

“It’s interesting to work with manufacturers like Bluefin,” said Bailey. “Our metal inserts are helping an AUV perform underwater exploration!”

Yardley Trisert® stainless steel threaded metal inserts are available for purchase online at www.yardleyproducts.com or by contacting Yardley Products at 800-457-0154. In addition to stainless steel threaded metal inserts, Yardley Products manufactures a full line of standard and custom press-in, molded-in, epoxied-in, self tapping, ultrasonic, and thermal insert fasteners.
